While You're in Portland

Portland is one of our favorite places. Here are some spots we love — whether you're arriving early, staying late, or just looking for something to do between events.

☕Coffee

Floyd's Coffee

1996 SE Ladd Ave
Our neighborhood coffee spot, right in the heart of Ladd's Addition — the quiet rose-lined streets where we got engaged. Come for the espresso; stay to wander the neighborhood.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters

4525 SE Division St
Portland's most iconic roaster, started in this very spot. The original location inspired their famous Hair Bender blend. A city institution.

🍽️Food & Drink

Bluto's

2838 SE Belmont St
Wood-fired Greek food done beautifully. Incredible hummus, fresh-grilled pita, and lamb skewers. One of the best meals we've had in Portland.

Jacqueline

2500 SE Clinton St
A tiny, romantic oyster bar with a menu that changes daily. Pacific Northwest seafood at its finest — sustainably sourced, beautifully prepared.

Masu Sushi

406 SW 13th Ave
Our go-to sushi spot downtown. Creative rolls, quality fish, and a great cocktail program. Feels special without being fussy.

Salt & Straw

838 NW 23rd Ave
Portland's beloved artisan ice cream. Rotating seasonal flavors using local farms — honey lavender, pear & blue cheese, and whatever's in season. The line moves fast; it's worth it.

Multnomah Whiskey Library

1124 SW Alder St
A speakeasy-style bar with over 1,500 bottles lining floor-to-ceiling library shelves. Bartenders retrieve bottles on rolling ladders. Book a Hall Pass reservation in advance.

🌲Outdoors

Forest Park

Lower Macleay Trailhead, 2960 NW Upshur St
One of the largest urban forests in the country — 5,000 acres and 80+ miles of trails just minutes from downtown. The Macleay Trail to Witch's Castle is an easy, beautiful entry point.

Washington Park

400–611 SW Kingston Ave
Two of Portland's best are side by side here: the International Rose Test Garden (free, 10,000+ roses, views of Mt. Hood on clear days) and the Portland Japanese Garden (one of the most authentic outside Japan).

Pittock Mansion

3229 NW Pittock Dr
A 1914 French Renaissance chateau perched 1,000 feet above the city. The grounds are free to visit and offer some of the best panoramic views of Portland and the Cascades.

🎨Arts & Culture

Portland Art Museum

1219 SW Park Ave
The oldest art museum on the West Coast, set along the South Park Blocks. Strong permanent collection of Pacific Northwest and Native American art, plus rotating major exhibitions.

🛍️Shopping

Powell's City of Books

1005 W Burnside St
The world's largest independent bookstore — an entire city block of new, used, and rare books. Easy to spend two hours inside. Don't leave Portland without stopping here.

Canoe

1233 SW 10th Ave
A beautifully curated design shop stocking simple, functional, beautiful everyday objects — ceramics, stationery, housewares, and gifts from makers worldwide.

🗺️Neighborhoods to Wander

Ladd's Addition

SE 16th Ave & Harrison St
Portland's oldest planned neighborhood, with a unique diagonal street grid radiating from a central rose garden circle. Four rose test gardens, beautiful old homes — and the streets where we got engaged.

Northwest — NW 21st & 23rd Ave

NW 23rd Ave, between Lovejoy and Thurman
Portland's most charming shopping corridor — Victorian homes turned boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. Salt & Straw is here, along with dozens of local shops and a great afternoon walk.

Northeast — Alberta Arts District

NE Alberta St, between MLK Blvd and 33rd Ave
A vibrant, eclectic stretch with art galleries, restaurants, vintage shops, and bars. Hosts a beloved outdoor art walk every last Thursday of the month.

North — Mississippi Avenue & Williams Avenue

N Mississippi Ave, between Fremont and Skidmore
A laid-back local strip with great food (Por Que No tacos, Lovely's Fifty Fifty pizza), curious shops, and Mississippi Studios — one of Portland's best small music venues.

Southeast — Division & Hawthorne

SE Division St & SE Hawthorne Blvd
Portland's best food and bohemian neighborhoods, side by side. Our favorite and home hood! Division is the restaurant row; Hawthorne is vintage shops, old bookstores, and the classic Bagdad Theater.
